CHRISTOPHER BLACKMON
HEAD COACH/CEO
Born in Miami, FL on September 18, 1984. Christopher Blackmon Sr. decided to marry his wife Latasha M. Blackmon on July 8, 2009. the lovely couple was blessed from on high to have 4 beautiful children, 3 boys and 1 girl.Christopher Blackmon Sr. attended his final 4 years of grade school at Miami Carol City High School where he received his (Diploma) in 2002After attending serval colleges, Christopher finally found the one that worked out best Indian River State College where he received his (Bachelor's Degree) in Organizational Management in 2012.
Christopher's primary field of expertise is Logistics, where for most of his life he worked in warehouses and factories throughout the state of Florida. Christopher joined the military at the age of 31 with the rank of Specialist as a 92A. Within a year and a half time, he was promoted to Sergeant. After serving 6 years active, he decided to finish his last 2 years in the reserves. Before Christopher joined the military he was coaching sports. His 1st coaching experience was as an assistant girls' basketball coach at Samuel Gaines K-8 for the middle school team. In that 1st year, his team won the MLK tournament, won every regular season game, and finished on top as the St. Lucie County district champs.
He also coached football as a defensive coordinator for the Fort Pierce Firehawks (8U Superbowl Champions) and Treasure Coast Renegades concurrently with basketball. Christopher has put in over a decade of coaching and mentoring youth here in the St. Lucie area.It wasn’t until his sons showed a strong interest in playing travel basketball that he realized the lack of development young ball players received before being introduced to the AAU circuit. His goal is to train the youth ages 8 - 17 years of age in the St. Lucie county area for next-level success. It shouldn’t be so hard to find excellent guidance that's not driven by monetary gain, and now it isn't hard at all thanks to Christopher's dedicated team of coaches. Down South Ballerz (DSB) was established to develop and grow the IQ of its players on and off the court. Now that you've received the chance to get to know a little bit more about Coach Chris, he hopes that you can return the favor and bring your child out and introduce yourself to him as well.

Coach Thomas is committed to supporting athletes in achieving success at a pivotal point in their basketball careers. He emphasizes advanced skills and game intelligence, equipping players for varsity-level competition while instilling discipline and a mindset geared toward success.
Michael
Cooper Sr.
9th Grade / Class of 2028
Michael Cooper began his basketball journey as a freshman at Centennial High School in 2001 and graduated in 2005. After briefly coaching little league soccer, he returned to basketball in 2013 as a coach in the City of Port Saint Lucie’s recreational league. His passion for youth development led him to found a competitive travel basketball team in 2015, which he has coached for over a decade alongside his work in recreational leagues.
With over 10 years of experience, Coach Cooper has guided both boys and girls aged 6 to 18, working with beginners as well as elite players competing nationally. His coaching style is known for emphasizing not only basketball fundamentals but also leadership, confidence, and teamwork. In the 2023–2024 school year, he served as head coach at Westgate K-8, and for the 2024–2025 season, he joined the Fort Pierce Central High School basketball staff as an assistant coach.
Respected for his commitment, communication skills, and ability to connect with diverse players and families, Coach Cooper has become a vital figure in youth sports and basketball development in the Port Saint Lucie area.
